WHERE TO HAVE A MEMORABLE HONEYMOON IN 2021

So you decided to tie the knot? Congratulations, how exciting! While you might be still euphoric from the realisation that soon you’ll be married, it’s time to start planning your Big Day and what comes after—the honeymoon. Luckily, you don’t have to think too much about your post-ceremony trip, with so many options to choose from. Here are the five most popular destinations for a honeymoon to remember:

Maldives

The beautiful islands of Maldives are a classic honeymoon destination and for all the right reasons. The independent island country is blessed with colourful coral reefs, crystal-clear water and wonderful people. You can book your own water villa with a deck that looks out to the sea, wake up to the soothing sound of waves, and go to sleep with a fresh breeze lightly hitting your skin. Also, the Maldives are very private, so you can expect all the safety you can get even during COVID.

Some of the country’s biggest tourist attractions include the Maldive Victory, Veligandu Island Beach, Alimatha Island, Banana Reef and Alimatha Island, but you should also set some time aside to try beach sports. The best time to visit is between November and April, when the islands get very little rain and humidity is lower.

Cape Winelands, South Africa

Nestled between mountain peaks and speckled with many wineries and dreamy estates, Cape Winelands is a great honeymoon destination for romantic couples. During your stay, you will get to explore charming wineries, sample excellent wine and celebrate your love in one of the world’s most famous regions. Make sure to leave time between drinks for excursions to Table Mountain National Park, Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, Cape Point Nature Reserve and Clifton Beaches, where you can try hiking, do a lot of sightseeing and practice your photography.  The best time for your South African honeymoon is between March and May, and September and November, when the temperatures are warm but mild.

New York, USA

This might be an unexpected honeymoon destination, but New York is a city of endless opportunities for romance, adventure, relaxation and excitement. It’s suitable for all couples, no matter what they want from their honeymoon. One of the must-do things for your NYC vacation is a Central Park adventure. Set one day aside to explore this natural wonder and have a picnic on the meadow. For the best experience, you can opt for bike rental in New York and grab your bikes in Central Park, so you can explore every little nook and cranny of this Manhattan icon. In the evening, you can catch a Broadway show or take a relaxing stroll across the famous Brooklyn Bridge. The best time for your New York honeymoon would be from April to June, and September to November. During that time, the weather is pleasant and the crowds are not that overwhelming.

Gold Coast, Australia

If you’re after lots of romance and fast-track fun, hit Australia and its Gold Coast. This surfer’s paradise is famous for its spectacular beaches and fantastic theme parks, so you’ll find something for every occasion. You can spend your day enjoying the views at the Surfer’s Paradise Beach or Burleigh Heads Beach or taking the SkyPoint Climb. Also, you must visit the Sea World aqua amusement park and spend some time at Warner Bros Movie World and Dreamworld. Another great thing about Gold Coast is that there’s no bad time to visit—you’ll be greeted by sunshine all year round!

Santorini, Greece

Many people dream about a Greek honeymoon, so why not make your dream a reality and visit Santorini? Its breathtaking views, famous white and blue buildings, dramatic cliffs and the bluest Aegean Sea will provide you with a luxurious honeymoon experience. You can spend your day at the beach or tasting amazing Greek wines, but make sure to have a little excursion to the ruins of a prehistoric village and learn something about ancient history. The best time to visit Santorini is from September to October, when the weather and water are still warm but the crowds are thinning. If Santorini is too expensive for you, you’ll find a similar vibe in various places in Montenegro.
