This season, Mai Atafo draws inspiration from Belle and her heart decisions in Beauty and The Beast for ‘The Heart Collection”. As seen in his runway showcase at Lagos Fashion and Design Week 2017, the designer recreates the dance scene from the Disney movie to replicate the transformation love brings to situations that involve the heart.??The Heart collection is inspired by the bride who follows her heart when picking her dress, without the constraints of the church and a budget or the influences of friends and family. The collection transcends the traditional white gowns to introduce dresses in blush, nude, pink, blue with soft corsets and couture structured gowns that express a modern day bride who has a strong heritage.
The Heart collection features models and friends of the brand like Bolanle, Beverly Osu, Jemima Osunde, Wofi Fada, Linda Ejiofor and Idia Aisien. With The Heart Collection, Mai Atafo hopes to inspire more unconventionality even in everyday life, which has inspired the #FollowMaiHeart Campaign, the campaign will see celebrities sharing moments where they???ll decide with their heart over their head while modelling some of the pieces from the collection.
