The millennial creatives, Asiyami Gold and Nneka Julia are currently #SeeingAfricaDifferent and taking us on a visual experience. They are visiting the beautiful African??city in western Morocco, Marrakesh and sharing??colourful snapshots of dream destinations we want with our imaginary travel buddy. Their ability to curate beauty together is magic.??Marrakech has stood for close to a thousand years, a city of history and culture. One of the most evocative places in the world, just the name conjures up images of this cultural melting pot ??? sandstone buildings, dusty streets and towering minarets against deep blue skies immediately spring to mind.??Known as The Red City thanks to the hue of the thick walls surrounding the old city, Marrakech has been a popular tourist destination in Morocco since the 1960s.
They toured the city in style, visiting places like the famous Souk Districts of the Medina.??As you first walk into Souk Semmarine (the central channel of the district)????the sensory overload of sight, smell and sound??make it difficult to focus on any one thing at once! As you come to your senses you will find yourself walking past stalls and shops specialising in??pottery,??p??tisseries, textiles, spices, carpets, jewellery and more. All of which are dimly lit under the covered boards??that shield the alley from the intense Moroccan sun,??giving??Souk??Semmarine a truly magical and mysterious feel.
They also explored the magic of Moroccan desert camping at Scarabeo Stone Camp.??It???s hard to imagine anything more inspiring than a nomadic, Oriental-African style bivouac camped in a vast stone desert, with the white tents standing against a backdrop of the awesome Atlas Mountains. This is a back-to-basics camping, the luxurious way.
In all, they show you that finding yourself with a friend is just as empowering and what’s better than travelling with your bestie!?
