WHAT IS THE MET GALA ABOUT?
The Met Gala is a Costume fundraiser event to support the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, New York. The Met Gala is used to mark the beginning of the Institute’s annual exhibit; the exhibit has a theme yearly which is also incorporated as the dress theme for guests of the Met Gala.
WHAT IS THE MET GALA THEME?
The theme for this year’s Met Gala is “Camp: Notes on Fashion”, the exhibition’s theme’s framework is illustrated in Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay “Notes on ‘Camp’”; the theme is described as “an aesthetic style and sensibility that regards something as appealing because of its bad taste and ironic value”.
SOME STYLE INSPIRATIONS FROM THE MET GALA
