THESE FOODS WOULD ENHANCE AND MAINTAIN A HEALTHY SKIN

Having a daily skincare routine is a great start to maintaining healthy skin but maintenance should not be limited to the outer layer of the skin; what is ingested is has a lot more influence on the outlook of the skin, this is not to say you should slack on your skincare routine.

SALMON

Bell peppers are rich in beta-carotene which contains a good level of antioxidants; beta-carotene gets converted to vitamin A in the body and can be better absorbed when food that contains it is paired with a healthy fat. Bell peppers contain vitamin C which is needed to make collagen, which subsequently helps in skin structuring.

TOMATOES

Tomatoes have been described as the fountain of youth; they are a good source for vitamin C, they also contain major carotenoids like beta-carotene which is really great for the skin.

SWEET POTATO

Sweet Potatoes also contain beta-carotene; they have antioxidants that protect the skin from sunburn and dead skin cells.

CITRUS FRUITS

Citrus fruits are known for their high vitamin C content that is a great source for Collagen that helps make the skin vibrant and glowing.

RED WINE

Red wine is rich in resveratrol (an antioxidant with anti-cancer effects) that can be found on the skin of red grapes. This does not mean you need to go on a red wine binge because excess alcohol has its dangers, however, moderation is key.

DARK CHOCOLATE

Rich in Flavanol, which helps in the healthy circulation of oxygen and nutrients that support heart skin and brain health, dark chocolate promotes healthy skin. Cocoa is rich in vitamins A, B1, C, D, E with iron and calcium that help boost the skin’s moisture and protects it from sun damage.
