As we witness a breakthrough of true power on the runways and in the fashion industry in the African continent, we remove the focus from the designers and their collections and take a look at Nigerian models working at the top of their game. From Aduke delivery fierce steps on the runway to a representative at the Elite Model Look International competition, we celebrate Nigerian model talent who work hard to embody the essence of every campaign and editorial and are at the cutting-edge of cool. These are our models on the rise

No. 1: Aduke Shitta-Bey

With a fierce gaze and a power walk to rival any model, Aduke is definitely a girl on the rise. Walking in over 10 shows at the just concluded Lagos Fashion and Design Week for Deola Sagoe, Style Temple, Elie Kuame, Sisiano and much more and also at the GTBank Fashion Weekend for Julien MacDonald and Laquan Smith, Aduke is a fresh face that is clearly carving a niche for herself. Her portfolio spans the industry with campaigns for Deola Sagoe,  Meena Offical and Maju to name a few.

No. 2: Cornelius Michaell

Fronting the Ugo Monye ‘Reale’ collection campaign, Cornelius Michaell exudes powerful camera presence. With a fashion portfolio comprising of David Bowler and Mai Atafo while killing it on the runway at the 2017 Lagos Fashion and Design Weekend, Cornelius is a face to watch out for.

No. 3: Olabisi Olaniyan

A young promising model signed to Few Models Nigeria, Olabisi Olaniyan is fiercely talented, unforgettable and in demand, hence her place on this list. With a Duckie Thot similarity and a tall presence, she has worked on editorials and campaigns for CLAN and Fashpa. This young face has also graced the runway so early in her career at the Lagos Fashion and Design Week for Christie Brown and Andrea Iyamah. There is definitely more coming her way.

No. 4: Stephen  Aladenika

After a stellar year winning the 2017 Elite Model look Nigeria contest, Stephen has gone on to walk multiple shows at the Lagos Fashion and Design Week for Orange Culture, JZO, Sisiano, Mai Atafo and Rich Mnisi and also walked at the GTBank Fashion Weekend. He is currently in Milan for the Elite Model look International competition, here’s hoping he brings it home.

No. 5: Opeyemi Awoyemi

Signed to boss models in Cape Town, Opeyemi Awoyemi is a chiselled beauty. With a fashion portfolio to rival any model, she has graced the catwalk for designers throughout Lagos Fashion and Design Week (Maki Oh, CLAN, Jewel by Lisa, Ejiro Amos Tafiri, etc.) and GTBank Fashion Weekend. With campaigns for Polo South Africa and multiple magazine editorials, Opeyemi is a seasoned model in her own right
