When it comes to influence, it doesn’t get bigger than the Internet, these days. From how we decide on everyday purchases, to who we vote for, the World Wide Web has undoubtedly become a (if not the) major driver. So it’s no surprise to see that the media is increasingly focusing on the world’s biggest social media influencers – the game-changers who are having an effect on world issues, whether or not they are conscious of it.
According to TIME, the contenders for the fifth annual roundup of the most influential people on the Internet were evaluated “by looking at their global impact on social media and their overall ability to drive news.”
On this year’s unranked list are President Donald Trump, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Cardi B, Ariana Grande, Jada Pinkett Smith, the Hong Kong protesters and even the World Record Egg.
