ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PRINCE HARRY & MEGHAN MARKLE’S NETFLIX DEAL

Lovers and avid followers of the new-school royals across the world have been anxiously waiting on the next step for their ‘royal faves’, ‘House Sussex Royal’, after stepping back from their roles as senior royals. It was reported recently that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle signed a multi-million dollar deal with Netflix; this deal has further helped cement their move to become independent of the British Palace. There have also been reports that the Duke and Duchess have been able to pay back the £3.2 million public funds used to renovate their home in the UK, and so, all is well with Sussex Royal.

Film production is nothing new to the couple as the Duchess actively appeared on a number of television shows and films before stepping into her royal duties, while the Duke has appeared in a number of documentaries. We have heard the Duke say he plans on stopping Netflix’s hit series ‘Crown’ before the story gets to him. So, what should be expected from this collaboration?

Although a production company name has not been chosen, we know it is a multi-year deal and we should expect documentaries, docu-series, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programming. Without a doubt, Prince Harry and Meghan will deliver quality production. They said this deal will enable them to create content that “informs but also gives hope” as they have an unprecedented reach for them to share impactful content that unlocks action. They currently have an animated series in the works.

Before settling with Netflix, the Duke and Duchess had negotiated with networks such as Disney, Apple, Quibi, and NBCUniversal. The deal is a win-win for both parties; our favourite royals get to make independent financial gain while Netflix’s subscription numbers multiply.
