“UBER FOR TAILORS” IS ABOUT TO CHANGE THE FASHION LANDSCAPE IN LAGOS

Tech-fashion entreprenuer, David Peterside is capitalising on the average Nigerian’s desire to look fashionable and feel their best, by creating an app being dubbed the “Uber for tailors.”

By registering and using the Fashion Map app, you’ll be able to find a dressmaker near you at the press of a button. The aim of the app is to bring visibility to local fashion businesses and widen the target audience for these SMEs. “It may be a perfect fit for Africa’s most populous country. Nigeria has a fast-growing base of smartphone users and over 100,000 registered tailors,” The Economist reports.

According to the official website, “Fashion Map allows you to select your location, filter your search and request. Fashion Map lets you pick options such as your desired service (sew, amend or ready to wear), the type of garment you are interested in, be it (native, formal, casual or bridal), as well as your price range.”

It’s always a good day when technology and fashion work together for a good cause.
