Due to the global spread of Corona Virus, the committee overseeing the Met Gala have postponed the event indefinitely. Scheduled to hold on the 4th of May 2020, it was thought wise to postpone the biggest night of fashion to avoid the widespread of the virus. It has been advised widely by health organisations and the government to practice social distancing as well as self-isolation until the virus is completely gotten rid of.
The Met Gala is an annual themed red carpet event dedicated to raising funds for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. The event has been held on the first Monday of May since 2005.
This year, the theme “About Time: Fashion and Duration” is focused on the journey through time in Fashion and it is sponsored by French luxury fashion house, Louis Vuitton. Usually, the audience around the world anticipates the red carpet event to appreciate and celebrate the creativity of the event’s guests as they step out in their on-theme statement outfits.
