Yellow is not always the easiest colour to pull off, especially when there is a chance of getting it wrong. Not only is it a bold, loud and in-your-face colour, a lot of people could argue yellow isn’t the most flattering colour.  This is a myth I’ll like to address! Yellow can be stunning, sexy and super flattering especially for women with darker skin tone, however, you have to know the tips and tricks required for styling a yellow dress.

Ready to step out of your comfort zone and get risky? Here are 5 style tips on how to pull off a yellow dress this summer.

Look 1: The Bodycon Dress

Featured Brands: Pretty little thing dress, Tomford heels, clutch, perfume and fragrance.

Want to look sexy in yellow? Opt for a flattering bodycon dress with accentuating features. My tip for pulling off this style is pairing the bodycon dress with a dark colour statement accessory like a leopard print clutch. Seal the deal with the perfect red lip. Perfect look for a night out and date night.

Look 2: The Asymmetry Dress

Featured Brands: Zara dress, Chloe bag, Chanel fragrance, Dior lipstick

Fun, flowy and chic! An asymmetry dress will give you a modern glamour with a playful twist. Pair with neutral colour accessories to avoid looking like a Bumblebee (literally). Styling this look with a pair of kitten heels is giving me modern Parisian vibes. Perfect look for brunch, day out and events.

Look 3: The frill Dress

Featured Brands: Asos dress, Tomford heels, Chanel fragrance, Gucci purse, Ysl Lipstick

Frills and a yellow dress are two exaggerated pieces on their own so when styling them together, you have to be very careful to avoid overdoing it. Stick to basic dress styles, avoid overly frilled dress and pair with black accessories. A pair of killer heels would show you mean business. Perfect Workwear.

Look 4: The Linen Dress

Featured Brands: Whistles dress, Gucci heels and purse, Ysl black Opium fragrance, Ysl Lipstick

Try a linen yellow dress for that chic antique style. Linen yellow is a more muted yellow so you can afford to add a pop of colour (only if you feel brave enough) with your accessories. The trick is to make sure the accessories are matching for a more cohesive look. Perfect day to night look.

Look 5: The Maxi Dress

Featured Brands: Oasis dress, Chloe Nile bag, Zara Flats, Celine sunglasses, Louboutin fragrance

Need a bright and bold maxi dress for your vacation vibes? A yellow maxi dress is your goto for that instant and dramatic look. There’s no hiding in a yellow maxi dress, it’s got you gleaming, glistening and picture ready. Pair with sunglasses, a hat and sandals for that beach-ready look.
