Globalisation is changing the fashion industry faster than we realise, with it becoming easier for more and more brands in different corners of the world to exchange ideas and infuse various cultures into the clothing they create. This week, British online fashion and cosmetic retailer, ASOS announced its collaboration with London-based brand, TTYA (Taller Than Your Average), which is a label dedicated to making stylish clothing accessible to statuesque women.
This brand was founded by designer and creative consultant, Irene Agbontaen, in 2013. The range caters for women 5’9″ and over, and has an increasingly large following, including the likes of Jourdan Dunn, Leomie Anderson and Maya Jama.
The new collection includes an exclusive 10-piece collection for ASOS, which was originally showcased during Lagos Fashion Week, and is inspired by Agbontaen’s Nigerian heritage. Within this playful collection, you’ll find ruffles, python print and exaggerated sleeves – all perfect for the Summer.
