‘Karl For Ever’, a memorial service celebrating the life and legacy of legendary designer, Karl Lagerfield, was held on June 19th, at the Grand Palais in Paris last night. Friends and colleagues of the designer, like Stella McCartney, Cara Delevingne and Pharrell Williams, attended the event hosted by the houses of Chanel, Fendi and Karl Lagerfeld.
2,500 guests and artists gathered to honour Lagerfield, many giving live tributes and performances, while his favourite music and literature was interpreted by violinist Charlie Siem, pianist Lang Lang and Argentinian choreographer German Cornejo – accompanied by his troupe of 17 tango dancers and a 7-piece orchestra.
Guests were also surrounded by 56 giant portraits of the fashion icon, captured throughout his life by some of the world’s greatest photographers. All this took place in a setting inspired by his favourite colours: black and white, enhanced with a touch of red.
