On January 21, 2017, women around the world, of different backgrounds, colours and ideologies, gathered in millions to “protect, defend and advance human rights, even in the face of adversity.”
This is more than just a single day of action, this is the beginning of a movement—
— Women's March (@womensmarch) January 22, 2017
For one day alone, none of the geographical or social barriers that separate women were of any significance. There was one goal, and one goal only, in mind: To be heard, to be respected and to bring about real change.
Powerful women in Hollywood were by no means missing in action. Actors, Whoopi Goldberg, Orange Is The New Black’s, Uzo Azuba, and Janelle Monae, amongst many others, came out in full support of the movement that caught and will keep the world’s attention for more than 24 hours.
