Good looking and with a great sense of humor, it’s no wonder Trevor is our man of the day. The South African comedian and Daily Show host has just won his first Emmy award this weekend in Los Angeles at the 2017 Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
Unable to attend the ceremony due to a performance at DC, Noah snagged the gold for YouTube comedy special. In celebration of his performance we listed a few awesome things we know and love about Noah:
- He is a polyglot.
Asides English, Noah has mastered and speaks a few other languages like Afrikaans, German, Spanish, Tsonga, Zulu, Sotho, Tswana.
- He is a “progressive person”.
Noah has often described himself as a progressive person with a political perspective rather than as a “political person” and would rather not be categorized as either right or left in the context of US partisanship.
- He survived domestic abuse
While growing up, Noah and his mum were physically abused by his step dad. Fortunately Noah came out of this experience on top all of which are leading themes in his comedy.
- He pays homage to the “godfathers”
As much as he is a successful comedian with so many accolades, Noah acknowledges those who have been in the industry before him and calls them his inspiration. Talk about respect!
- He is a New York Times bestseller
Trevor released his first book Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood, which was an instant New York Times bestseller in November 2016. The book is collection of personal stories about growing up in South Africa during the last gasps of apartheid and the tumultuous days of freedom that came with its demise. Already known for his incisive social and political commentary, Noah turns his focus inward, giving readers an intimate look at the world that shaped him.
Congratulations Trevor Noah!
