KING SUNNY ADE ANNOUNCED AS PART OF THE COACHELLA 2017 LINE UP

Annual music and arts festival, Coachella, held in California, is the ‘IT’ scene for music lovers everywhere and celebrities alike. This huge event features some of the biggest, best-known artists around the world, and over the years, has had everyone from JayZ and Sia, to Drake and The Weeknd grace the stage.

This year, though, there’s been an interesting addition to the lineup: Our very own King Sunny Ade! The Nigerian music veteran, who turned 70 years old only a few months ago, will be performing at Coachella on the Sunday the 16th and 23rd of April, alongside Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, and DJ Khaled – and that’s major.

Whilst neither the King of Jùjú music nor his team made the announcement on social media, the official Coachella website did the honours.

Another superstar who will be performing at Coachella for the very first time is Queen Bey. It’s hard to believe that Beyonce has never performed on her own at Coachella before (except briefly singing during her husband, Jay Z’s headlining set in 2010, and during her sister, Solange’s 2014 appearance), but it will indeed be her first time wowing the crowd. We’re excited!

Other Coachella 2017 acts announced on Monday, 2nd January include Lorde, Tory Lanez, Gucci Mane and Future.
