Iconic Nigerian musician, Majek Fashek, best known for his hits, Send Down The Rain and So Long For Too Long, has passed on at age 71. The artist reportedly died in his sleep in New York, according to his manager, Omenka Uzoma, as told to the BBC.
In a post on Instagram, Mr Uzoma wrote that he believed it was a time to “celebrate him, his achievements and his family.”
Majek, whose real name was Majekodunmi Fasheke, battled with health challenges for a number of years, however it is yet to be confirmed if this is linked to the cause of death.
In his lifetime, he had many achievements, including the City People Music’s Music Legend Award, and collaborated with the likes of Jimmy Cliff, Tracy Chapman and Snoop Dogg.
