When it comes to your beauty routine, sleep is the closest thing to the fountain of youth and the key is to get a shut eye no fewer than 6-7 hours. Between the activities in the day and night, your mind and your body need the opportunity to gradually de-stress and relax. Getting to sleep seems to be the most difficult part of having a good bed rest for many people. Why? Because your head is swimming with thoughts, ideas, mental checklists, and stresses so it can be tricky to switch off and “chillax”. Whether it’s a night’s sleep or a power nap if you aren’t getting enough sleep just remember lack of sleep affects the moisture levels in your skin, decreasing them and also lowering your complexion’s PH levels, which is why your skin looks less youthful and has less of a flow.
Consider the following as the best pre-bed rituals.
Have a bath
A warm bath helps the body reach a temperate ideal for rest. So why don’t you run a warm bath and indulge in some aromatherapy.
Device use just before bed, or when we wake in the night, can make restless sleep caused by stress and even worse. Turn off your device or better still put it somewhere out of reach, at least an hour before you fall asleep or read a book maybe?
Cut back on caffeine and sugar
Swap the cup of hot chocolate which might seem relaxing just before bed for a good, strong, herbal cuppa. Your body will thank you!
Listen to music
Soft music, scented candles all set the ambiance for a good sleep. Playing some calming music right before you fall asleep, serves as the best cure for the sleep-deprived nights
