TEMI ‘JTO’ OTEDOLA IS SET TO STAR IN A KUNLE AFOLAYAN PRODUCTION

Is there anything the Otedola sisters can’t do? From music and fashion, to philanthropy, they can do it all. Fashion and style content creator, Temi ‘JTO’ Otedola is taking her career in a new direction (pun intended) though, making a voyage into Nigerian film.

Via her social media, Otedola announced she will be starring in iconic filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan???s next feature film, Citation. Alongside photos of the film’s script and a few shots from the official press briefing, JTO wrote, “I can finally announce that I will be starring in ???Citation???, legendary filmmaker Kunle Afolayan???s next feature film! Deeply humbled and excited to be shooting alongside so many legends of film in my on-screen debut.”

Otedola says she was excited at the prospect of starring in a film with a story that is “so relevant and relatable,” and “grew up watching [Nollywood] movies.” She’s not wrong about the relevance of the film at a time like this in Nigeria; Citation is a story about a female postgraduate student who is faced with the ordeal of dealing with sexual harassment by a lecturer.

Producer, Afolayan says the film will be shot for five weeks, beginning January through February 15, 2020 in three countries. Jimmy Jean-Louis, Ini Edo and Gabriel Afolayan will also star in the film. Speaking further on the film, Afolayan says, “Citation will create awareness of the different forms of violence against women and girls in the public and private sphere. It will educate the society on women’s rights and the ways to enforce these rights for the achievement of equality and tranquility.”
