2019 came with the big news of HBO Max making a series adaptation of the award-winning novel Americanah by Nigerian Author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. As the year went by, we got more information of top Hollywood actors such as Lupita Nyong’O and Uzo Adubua being cast for the series; Africans couldn’t have been more proud, with the knowledge of their own getting recognition they deserve around the globe.
With all of this excitement going around, more recent news has made us understand Chinonye Chukwu will be directing the first two episodes of the series. Chinonye is popularly known for her directorial role for the movie Clemency, which she also wrote, she is also known as the first black woman to win the U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Prize at Sundance.
Other actors for the series include Zackary Momoh and Corey Hawkins, with Lupita Nyong’O and her Blackpanther co-star Danai Gurira being the executive producers.
