Have you at any point asked why men’s fashion is kept simple and clean? I figure we may end up making an endless inquiry into it. Looking back to the 80’s, a period that showed a variety of men’s suits with regards to refined silhouettes, framing and a decent decision of fabric choices, It was with great pleasure to point out my areas of interest at Lagos Fashion Week 2018 and it was an eye teaser seeing homegrown brands presenting designs to the world from numerous points of view.
What kept me intrigued was the manner by which menswear style was exhibited and I was pleasantly overwhelmed seeing Nigerian menswear designer Tokyo James present it in a form that was so dreamlike. A couple of methods that each designer might not have any desire to attempt on a menswear apparel, Tokyo did. It was great watching the means by which he figured out how to append butterfly embroidery on some of his pieces, following a principled placement that wasn’t busy and it has demonstrated to us how well tambour beading, weaving, feathering, laser cuts, or ideally some other high fashion procedure are not for the ladies’ attire alone. Even better was his debut of womenswear clothing down the runway, bravo!
