During the 68th edition of the Miss Universe pageant that took place at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta Georgia early this morning, current Miss South Africa, Zozibini was announced as the winner. The 26-year old model is said to be the first black winner from South Africa and the third winner from the country to win the title.
Zozbini is a graduate of Cape Peninsula University of Technology where she got a bachelor’s degree in public relations and image management in 2018, she is a passionate activist who lends her voice to gender-based violence causes, she has been described as a bookworm and she names her grandmother as her biggest source of inspiration.
To encourage the younger generation and women as a whole, Zozbini has said ‘the most important thing we should teach young girls today is leadership. It’s been lacking in young girls and women for a very long time… Nothing is more important than taking up space in the society and submitting yourself”.
This win is considered historic because, for the first time, Miss America, Miss USA, Miss Teen USA and Miss Universe are all black women!
