DJ Khaled’s All I Do Is Win must be on repeat on Burna Boy’s iTunes playlist, right now, because the Afro Fusion artist is – to put it very simply – killing it. After a captivating performance at Coachella, this year and winning a BET Award (for Best International Act) just last month, Burna Boy has proven that he’s truly a global star – as if we were ever in doubt.
Now, he’s been named Apple Music’s ‘Up Next’ musician. The streaming service’s monthly artist programme aims to identify, showcase and elevate rising talent. To celebrate this success, Apple Music has featured Burna Boy’s ‘Dangote’ on the Up Next list. He is also set to make his debut appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on 23 July.
“I’m super excited to be part of the Apple Music Up Next campaign,” Burna Boy said. “Apple continuously comes up with new initiatives to support artists globally and push the African culture. It’s an honour to be a part of this and with my African Giant album coming out soon, the timing is perfect.”
Speaking on the African sensation, Apple Music’s global editorial head of Hip Hop and R&B, Ebro Darden, said: “Burna Boy has built his brand his way and has been on fire all over Africa and the UK. He does things his way and Apple Music is honoured to be able to connect with Burna Boy on this moment and help make the name even more well-known.”
What makes this title even more significant is that Burna Boy is one of the few African artists to featured on the list, which also includes J Balvin (Colombia), Maisie Peters (UK), and Khalid (US).
