BARACK OBAMA GAVE A SOCIAL MEDIA SHOUT-OUT TO AYODEJI OSOWOBI, FOR HER RELENTLESS FIGHT AGAINST SEXUAL ASSAULT IN NIGERIA

It’s always a great day on social media when the former President of the United States personally tweets at you, appreciating your accomplishments. That day was the 18th of November, when Barack Obama sent out a tweet, praising the founder of the Stand To End Rape (S.T.E.R) initative, Oluwaseun Ayodeji Osowobi, for her work to kick against sexual assault in Nigeria.

Obama wrote, “Proud to see Oluwaseun @AyodejiOsowobi in this list. She’s an @ObamaFoundation Leader who’s organizing young people in Nigeria to help end sexual violence, and her work embodies what our foundation is all about: passing the baton to the next generation.”

Osowobi’s response? “Guys!!! Who will help me frame this”

The 2019 TIME 100 Next and Obama Foundation Fellow decided to start an organisation dedicated to fighting sexual abuse in Nigeria. “Telling my story as a survivor, that comes with a lot of stigma,” Osowobi tells TIME. Her five-year-old organisatio, S.T.E.R has reached around 200,000 people across the nation, through its services, which include training for health workers and counseling for survivors.
